uhhhh

This photograph is by Thomas Karsten. For this blog I wanted to include nude photographs because I shot nudes for one of my roles. The reason I think this relates so closely to my assignment is because you cant see body language any more closely than in a nude photograph. In the nude photographs you see everything exactly the way the person is positioned. Even this photograph includes two people they are still sitting in a way that shows so much. The difference between the two people is amazing.

This photograph is by an artist named Declan McCullagh. I found this photograph by in a google search on nude photography. THIS IS HOW I SHOT MY PHOTOGRAPHS! I only had one person and again, this shows two. But I swear I saw this photograph before I saw it--in my head. It is exactly what I was looking for. This close-up shot and how it shows so much more than just knees is exactly what I'm trying to get in my photos. I love how you don't  need to see the rest of the bodies to know whats going on because of the angle and composition!
I believe this photograph is by a man named B. Martin Pedersen. but I couldn't find a clear answer to that question because of the way this website was set up. I shot dancers for my assignment early. Before I knew exactly what I wanted. However the most significant part of those photographs to me was the close up shots of their movement. Looking at this photograph is interesting to me because even though it isn't how I shot mine, it shows the exact form in a way that makes the viewer get somewhat stuck. I would still like to see this closer in and focused on a specific part of the body.

This photograph is by Glyn Sheridan. In a search for relaxed poses and postures this came up. I chose this one because of the angle and the fact that it's closer in. The whole body's position isn't necessary for this photograph to give off a feeling. In my assignment I am going to show body posture, position, and language without showing the whole body. Zooming in on certain parts of the body while still giving off the sense of the persons feeling is the essential part of my assignment.

I found this photograph on a body reconstruction website and don't know the photographers name. BUT HOW IRONIC!!! The person is sitting in a pose that hides the stomach which is something a lot of women do in an effort to hide body fat or flaws. Yet the photographer makes this person look so beautiful with the lighting. Flaws are minimal in this photograph, yet this person is hiding. It's not as close as I'll be shooting, but the idea is something I appreciate.

Today I narrowed my subject down further after discussing it with Ron. My project will be on body gestures. I began with no idea what I was going to shoot and then began shooting body parts in general-hands, legs, arms, etc without knowing why. So this makes it more clear and hopefully will push me to put more into the assignment.

This is a photograph by Bryan Sheffield, my favorite photographer. I was looking through photographs that he's taken recently and came across this one, not liking it at first. The reason I didn't initially like this photograph was because of the composition-until I looked at it again. The reason I like it now is because of the composition. At first I thought the bottom was just a waste of space and it didn't make sense to me but at a second glance I saw Sheffield's foot. His presence in this photograph changed my perspective! The photograph because more emotional because of this detail and made me feel a little bit different. The scale of light in this photograph is also something I like, especially after our study of pulling film, which this reminds me of (even if it's digital).

This photograph is by Ryan Flynn. I found his website a few years back because we have the same last name and continued to follow his photography. The photographer shoots weddings, skateboarding, portraits...such variety. My favorite thing about this photographer is that no matter what he's shooting, he gives a different feeling to the viewer. This photograph struck me because the man seems to have his legs put together by whatever this contraption is which for some reason reminded me of Jesus and then looking at the wood posts in the background I couldn't deny this feeling. A+

This is a photograph from a blog titled Zoriah (I'm not certain if that's the photographers name) which hosts mostly war photography. This photograph is a 9/11 tribute. Need I really say any more?
